The design transforms a former barracks building into a contemporary residential building, giving a disused structure a new purpose without demolishing it.
The original volume of the building is retained, but the façades are opened up with new windows and prominent balconies that change the building's character from a closed technical structure to housing. New glazed surfaces bring more light into the interiors, and the balconies give each flat its own outdoor space. The renovation makes use of the existing structure and shows how an original building can be given a completely new function and a contemporary architectural identity.
